Grimeminister - Grand Larceny EP

EXCLUSIVE!

The ‘Grand Larceny’ EP by Grimeminsiter arrives with a wallop on Nicky Blackmarket’s Kartoons imprint. You should know by now that we love everything slightly different in respects of drum and bass and this 4 tracker is nothing short of a trip into the mind of this talented emerging producer.

The title track could well have been a yellowing plastic cartridge for all we know. Maybe its brains were ejected into some sort of strange music production tool? One thing we do know is that this tune has some serious funk to it and sets a theme for the EP that we seriously dig.

‘Imperius’ is a stompy affair of riff driven melodies and trippy breakbeats, perfect for that weekend holiday in your back garden searching every single flower bed for magic mushrooms. ‘Resistance’ is a slow burner and somewhat of a head nodder. If you’re feeling in the mood to sit back and chill, this one could well be the party starter as its silky production simple glides across the living room floor, grabbing your feet and forcing them to have a little shuffle. Chilled but kinda steppy all in one!

Grimeminister introduces K & Sapphire to the mix for the final track ‘Life’. A concoction of scatty arpeggiated bass notes and female vox that wouldn’t go a miss in a techno rave. Strange combination but it works.

Fancy something a little different? Give this wicked EP a bash.
