Nicky Blackmarket’s Kartoons has issued a militant warning with this EP from Damage Report which goes something along the lines of “wear a bulletproof vest and hard hat when listening”. Failure to do so may result in either the ceiling falling on your head or the impact of low end bass causing heart conditions.
Licking off shots from the off, Damage Report introduces ‘Hard’ to your ears with the accompanying vocal shots of “yeah, this is hard!”... Simple tings. Breakbeats and constant shakers combined with industrial strength bass form the vibe of this EP, proving that you’re here for a tough time, not a good time. ‘Like I Don’t Care’ shows the versatile style of the EP whilst remaining constantly rough and tough - you kind of get the idea by now as to how this is going. One for the MCs to ride.
‘Chaaa’ delivers either an announcement of disbelief or approvement, you best decide for yourself. Big beats for your ear here alongside some really well crafted rumbling bass notes and sneaky pads. Everyone’s favorite hobby that could never be mastered returns in the form of ‘Hula Hoop’. Thankfully you don’t need abs of steel for this one although dancing off your nut for 8 hours straight could probably pass as some kind of exercise. Cheeky off beat snares and percussion fills are in favour here alongside everything you would expect to hear when you think outside of the box. Hold onto your hats, we’re going in!
